Note: Install the black protective cover that was removed from the new microprocessor onto the defective microprocessor after the installation is complete. 10. Secure the microprocessor in the socket by pivoting the small handle downward. Be sure to lock it into position. 11. Position the heat sink on the retention module so that the four screws are aligned with the posts on the system board. Tighten the four screws to secure the heat sink to the system board. 12. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement" on page 81. Replacing the system board This section provides instructions on how to replace the system board. 1. Open the computer cover. See "Opening the cover" on page 68. 2. Take note of the location of all cable connections on the system board and disconnect all cables. See "System board locations" on page 68. 3. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the cover. 4. Lift the system board off of the cover. 5.
