ENGLISH NAMES AND FUNCTIONS CONNECTIONS BASIC OPERATION ADVANCED CONNECTIONS BASIC OPERATION TUNER OPERATION To operate the unit from the remote controller, press the TUNE button on the remote controller so that the tuner mode is engaged. AUTO TUNING 1. 3. 2. MANUAL TUNING 1. 3. 2. SWITCHING THE FM MODE BASIC LISTENING TO THE TUNER Frequency scan step for AM is selectable. 3. 2. 1. 1. Default setup is 10 kHz step, if your country's standard is 9 kHz step. Press BAND button on the front panel. • "AM 10 kHz" appears on the display. 2. Press the 1 or 2 cursor buttons on the front panel. • "AM 9 kHz" appears on the display, and the tuning increment is switched to 9 kHz. 3. Press ENTER button on the front panel. Press the BAND button to select either FM or AM. 3. Press the 3 or 4 cursor buttons on the front panel for more than 0.5 second to start the auto tuning function. 4. Automatic searching begins then stops when a station is tuned in. (Using the remote controller) 1. To select tuner, press the TUNE button twice within two second on the remote controller. 2. FM broadcasts are usually received in stereo, but when the quality of the signals received from a station that broadcasts programs in stereo is poor, the amount of accompanying noise may be significant. In a case like this, by selecting the FM monaural mode, the level of the noise will be reduced, making it more pleasant to listen to the FM program. 1. When the T.MODE button on the remote controller is pressed during FM reception, the ST indicator on the display goes off, and the FM monaural mode is established. 2. When the T.MODE button is pressed again, the ST indicator illuminates, and the stereo mode is restored. 14 If tuning does not stop at the desired station, use to the "Manual tuning" operation.
