Recording CD to MD (Various CD Dubbing) N Recording from the top of a song you are listening to (specified track dubbing) You cannot use double-speed CD dubbing for this operation. 1 Insert a CD and an MD and press the CD / to start playback. Be sure to insert a recordable MD with the recordprotect tab closed. 2 If you wish to record a song you are currently listening to, press CD DUBBING during playback. Playback resumes from the top of the song and dubbing starts. When dubbing of the song is complete, the MD stops. The CD continues playing. N Dubbing a CD in a different play- back mode to an MD 1 Insert a CD and an MD, select CD as the input source, then select a different playback mode. • Be sure to insert a recordable MD with the record-protect tab closed. • Set up MEMORY playback (see page 40), 1TR playback (see page 41), or REPEAT playback (see page 42). (Set up a playback mode and select a song(s). Do not play back the song(s).) 2 Press CD DUBBING. CD-to-MD dubbing starts. Notes • Double-speed CD dubbing is disabled in MEMORY play- back and REPEAT playback modes. • If you have set up 1TR playback mode, you can dub only the first song on the CD even if you select multiple songs to be recorded. • If you record only one song on the CD in REPEAT playback mode, the recorded song on the MD may not be numbered. N Copying CD text • If a CD contains CD text, the CD's track names will be copied to the MD's tracks during CD dubbing. • During CD dubbing to an MD that contains no recording data or title, the CD disc title and the artist's name will be also copied to the MD and used as the MD disc title. • Many CD texts are protected by copyright. If a particular CD text is protected by copyright, "Text protect" appears on the display one second after you press the CD DUBBING button. If "Text Copy?" appears: To start copying the CD and CD text to an MD, press the CD DUBBING button. To start copying the CD but not copy CD text, do not press the CD DUBBING button. Note: Due to the limitations of the MD formats, CD text may be converted into a blank space, depending on the character type. (Continued on the next page) 29

Insert a CD and an MD and press the CD
to start playback.
Be sure to insert a recordable MD with the record-
protect tab closed.

If you wish to record a song you are currently
listening to, press CD DUBBING during play-
back.
Playback resumes from the top of the song and
dubbing starts. When dubbing of the song is com-
plete, the MD stops. The CD continues playing.
Dubbing a CD in a different play-
back mode to an MD

Insert a CD and an MD, select CD as the input
source, then select a different playback mode.
Be sure to insert a recordable MD with the
record-protect tab closed.
Set up MEMORY playback (see page 40), 1TR
playback (see page 41), or REPEAT playback
(see page 42). (Set up a playback mode and
select a song(s). Do not play back the song(s).)

Press CD DUBBING.
CD-to-MD dubbing starts.
Notes
Double-speed CD dubbing is disabled in MEMORY play-
back and REPEAT playback modes.
If you have set up 1TR playback mode, you can dub only
the
rst song on the CD even if you select multiple songs
to be recorded.
If you record only one song on the CD in REPEAT play-
back mode, the recorded song on the MD may not be
numbered.
Copying CD text
If a CD contains CD text, the CD
s track names will
be copied to the MD
s tracks during CD dubbing.
During CD dubbing to an MD that contains no
recording data or title, the CD disc title and the art-
ist
s name will be also copied to the MD and used
as the MD disc title.
Many CD texts are protected by copyright. If a par-
ticular CD text is protected by copyright,
Text pro-
tect
appears on the display one second after you
press the CD DUBBING button.
If
Text Copy?
appears:
To start copying the CD and CD text to an MD, press
the CD DUBBING button.
To start copying the CD but not copy CD text, do not
press the CD DUBBING button.
Note:
Due to the limitations of the MD formats, CD text may be
converted into a blank space, depending on the character
type.
