Moving, dividing, combining, and erasing MD tracks N Five basic functions N Erasing all tracks on an MD - All Erase • All Erase This function erases all the tracks and names to initialize the MD. ("Blank Disc" is displayed.) • Erase This function erases the selected track. • Move This function moves the selected track to the desired position. • Divide This function divides the selected track. • Combine This function combines the selected track and the immediately preceding track. N Combining basic functions Erasing part of a track - Divide and Erase Divide the track at the end or beginning of the portion you wish to erase. If necessary, repeat this operation to separate an unwanted portion. Then, erase the separated track. Combining separately positioned tracks - Move and Combine If the tracks you want to combine are in different locations, move the track to be merged to a position following the other track, then combine them. • You can execute this function only when the input source is MD and an MD is stopped. • To cancel the operation, press MD . 1 1 2-4 2 1 Insert the MD, then select MD as the source. Use a recordable MD with the recordprotect tab closed. 2 Press EDIT/CLEAR/NO and turn MULTI JOG until "All Erase?" appears in the display. Notes on combining tracks • You cannot combine a digital recording track and an analog recording track. (If you try, "Impossible" will appear on the display.) • You cannot combine tracks recorded in different 3 recording modes. You can combine only tracks recorded in the same recording mode. (For exam- ple, a track recorded in MONO mode cannot be combined with a track recorded in LP2 mode.) Notes • Information about the edited or erased contents is recorded to the TOC of the MD when you eject the MD, turn off the unit, or stop recording. Therefore, 4 do not disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) or vibrate the unit when the TOC indicator is lit or flashing (see page 36). • If the MEM, RDM, 1TR, or 1GR indicator is lit in the display, you cannot edit or erase any tracks. In such cases, cancel the MEMORY, RANDOM, 1TR, and 1GR playback mode (see page 42) before starting the operation. • If you edit an MD that has a group, the group infor- mation may be modified. Press MULTI JOG. The confirmation message "All Erase??" appears in the display. Press MULTI JOG to erase all tracks. "Complete" appears in the display. All tracks on the MD have been erased.
