Connecting to Network

Page 86 highlights

1. Click start - Control Panel. 2. Click Network and Internet Connections - Network Connections. If Classic view is selected, double-click Network Connections. 3. Select Wireless Network Connection; then, click Change settings of this connection of Network Tasks. 4. Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in This connection uses the following items. 5. Confirm the radio buttons of Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are selected. If not, select them. 6. Click Advanced button. 7. Confirm the Default gateways section is emptied. If not, remove the gateway address. 8. Click OK each time you close the dialog boxes. 9. Close the Network Connections window. Connecting to Network 5 Before connecting to wireless LAN, confirm your access point is ready to use and powered on. Refer to the manual of your access point. 1. Confirm the antenna indicator is lit. 2. Right-click Wireless Network Connection icon ( ) on the taskbar. If you cannot find the icon click to show all kinds of icon. 3. Click View Available Wireless Networks. 4. Select a network to be connected from the list of Available wireless networks. 5. Type the network key in the fields of Network key and Confirm network key. • You need to type the correct network key. For available letters or digits, refer to WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) Encryption section on page 5-7. • When you select a network that is not configured for encryption settings, the caution message appears such as Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure. Although you can connect to the network with the box checked, security is not ensured. Select a security configured network. 5-8

Connecting to Network
