Troubleshooting Troubleshooting If you run into any problems using your camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists, disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer. • Overall operations/Easy Handycam operation/ Remote Commander 96 • Batteries/Power sources 97 • LCD screen/Viewfinder 98 • Media 98 • Recording 99 • Playing back images on your camcorder ....101 • Playing back a disc on other devices...........102 • Playing back a "Memory Stick PRO Duo" on other devices 102 • Editing images on your camcorder 102 • Connecting/Dubbing to other devices ........103 • Connecting to a computer 103 • Functions that cannot be used simultaneously 104 Overall operations/Easy Handycam operation/Remote Commander The power does not turn on. • Attach a charged battery pack to the camcorder (p. 20). • Connect the plug of the AC Adaptor to the wall outlet (wall socket) (p. 20). The camcorder does not operate even when the power is set to on. • It takes a few seconds for your camcorder to be ready to record after the power is turned on. This is not a malfunction. • Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall outlet (wall socket) or remove the battery pack, then reconnect it after about 1 minute. If the functions still do not work, press the RESET button (p. 124) using a sharp-pointed object. (If you press the RESET button, all settings, including the clock setting, are reset.) • The temperature of your camcorder is extremely high. Turn off your camcorder and leave it for a while in a cool place. 96 Buttons do not work. • During Easy Handycam operation (p. 31), the following buttons/functions are not available. - Turning the LCD backlight on and off (pressing and holding the DISP BATT/ INFO button for a few seconds) (p. 25) - . (BACK LIGHT) button (p. 38) - Playback zoom (p. 43) The (OPTION) button is not displayed. • The OPTION MENU cannot be used during Easy Handycam operation (p. 31). The menu settings have been changed automatically. • Most menu items automatically return to their default settings during Easy Handycam operation (p. 31). • The following menu items are fixed during Easy Handycam operation (p. 31): - Movie recording mode: [SP] - [DATA CODE]: [DATE/TIME] - Recording format for DVD-RW: [VIDEO] • The following menu items return to the default settings if the POWER switch is set to OFF (CHG) for more than 12 hours: - [DVD MENU] - [FLASH MODE] - [FOCUS] - [SPOT FOCUS] - [EXPOSURE] - [SPOT METER] - [SCENE SELECTION] - [WHITE BAL.] - [COLOR SLOW SHTR] - [SUPER NIGHTSHOT] - [BLT-IN ZOOM MIC] - [MICREF LEVEL] Even if you press EASY, menu settings do not switch to their defaults automatically. • Following menu settings remain as they were set even during Easy Handycam operation (p. 31).
