Setting the memory card recording method Format Note that formatting irrevocably erases all data on a memory card, including protected images. MENU button t 1 t [Format] t [Enter] Notes • During formatting, the access lamp lights up. Do not eject the memory card while the lamp is lit. • Format the memory card using the camera. If you format it on a computer, the memory card may not be usable with the camera, depending on the format type used. • Formatting may take several minutes depending on the memory card. • If the remaining battery time is 1 percent or less, you cannot format memory cards. The camera resets numbers when a file is recorded in a new folder and assigns numbers to files from "0001." When the recording folder contains a file, a number one higher than the largest number is assigned.
