231 Using the TOSHIBA RAID Utility Using RAID hard disk capacity will appear to the operating system as only 40 GB. When you first start your computer Each time you start your computer you will be prompted to configure your computer for RAID-1 until one of the following occurs: ❖ The computer is ready to enable for RAID-1. See the steps on the following page. ❖ The computer is configured for RAID-0. See "Creating a new RAID-0 array" on page 233 for more information. ❖ The computer's secondary hard disk is partitioned and formatted using the Disk Management utility. See your Windows online help for more information. When configuring the secondary hard disk for RAID-1 support, all existing data on the secondary hard disk will be permanently erased and will not be recoverable. Toshiba is not responsible for any loss of data on the hard disk. NOTE Your computer can only be configured for one type of RAID at a time. It cannot be configured to use both RAID-0 and RAID-1 simultaneously. 1 Plug in the AC adaptor and power on the computer. (The computer must be running from power provided by the AC adaptor to perform these steps.) 2 After you have completed Windows setup and started using you computer, the following screen appears.
