233 Using the TOSHIBA RAID Utility Creating a new RAID-0 array 5 Click OK. The computer begins creating the array by copying data from the primary internal hard disk to the secondary internal hard disk. NOTE RAID-1 configuration can vary in time to complete, depending on the size of the hard drives and the amount of data. NOTE If the operating system is shut down before the RAID-1 configuration is complete, the RAID-1 configuration will automatically resume when the computer is restarted. Once the computer has been restarted you can continue to work while the configuration resumes. Creating a new RAID-0 array When RAID-0 is configured, the total hard disk capacity will appear to the operating system as twice that of the smaller of the two hard drives in the RAID configuration. For example, when a RAID-0 array is configured with one 40 GB hard disk and one 60 GB hard disk, the computer's total hard disk will appear to the operating system as 80 GB. You cannot use the remaining 20 GB on the larger hard disk drive. Once you have selected either RAID 0 or RAID 1, changing the RAID type at a later time will require re-imaging your hard drive to the factory image and you will lose all data on both drives. Please be certain of which RAID type you wish to use (if any) before making a selection. Always make sure you have backed up all important data.
