■ FM Tuner Troubleshooting Problem Cause Remedy FM stereo reception is noisy. There is distortion, and clear reception cannot be obtained even with a good FM antenna. The desired station cannot be tuned in with the automatic tuning method. The characteristics of FM stereo broadcasts may cause this problem when the transmitter is too far away or the antenna input is poor. There is multi-path interference. The signal is too weak. Check the antenna connections. Try using a high-quality directional FM antenna. Use the manual tuning method. Adjust the antenna position to eliminate multi-path interference. Use a high-quality directional FM antenna. Use the manual tuning method. ■ Remote control See page 7 - 23 - - 23 Problem Cause Remedy The remote control does not work or does not function properly. Wrong distance or angle. Direct sunlight or lighting (from an inverter type fluorescent lamp, etc.) is striking the remote control sensor of this unit. The remote control will function within a maximum range of 6 m (20 ft) and no more than 30 degrees offaxis from the front panel. Reposition this unit. The batteries are weak. Replace all the batteries. The batteries do not last long. Using alkaline batteries is strongly recommended. The remote control code is not correctly set. Set the remote control code correctly. Try setting another code of the same manufacturer. The IR flashers are not connected/attached Connect/attach the IR flashers properly. Also refer to correctly. the owner's manual of the external components. Some buttons on the virtual remote control do not function. Remote control codes are directly transmitted to the remote control sensor of the target device. Conceal the remote control sensor of the target device so that the remote control codes are received directly from the remote control. The remote control does not learn new functions. This unit and the remote control are too far apart or too close together. The batteries of the other remote control are too weak. Place the remote control within the range of 10 cm to 2.5 m (4 in. to 8 ft.). Replace all the batteries. There is noise interference from digital or radio frequency equipment. If a CRT display or equipment connected to a CRT display is placed near this unit, move this unit away from such equipment. If metal objects are near this unit, move this unit away from them.
