In this mode, a screen menu appears on the monitor screen after the playback begins. To select the preferred item on a screen menu Press the corresponding numeric button(s). The Playback of the item begins. * Refer to page 18 for how to use the numeric buttons. If the disc has two or more menus; Press to go on to the next menu. In that case, select the preferred item again. To skip to the preferred item (or screen menu) during playback (or being paused) • Pressing locates the beginning of the next item or the next screen menu. • Pressing locates the beginning of the previous item or the previous screen menu. To return to the previous screen menu Press RETURN. * To return to the first screen menu, press RETURN repeatedly until the first menu appears. Note Disc play in the Playback Control mode depends on the data of the disc used. So, depending on the contents of disc, the above operating method may not be applied to the disc. Be sure to refer to the instruction manual for the disc. To enjoy Video CDs with the Playback Control turned off • Change the setting of "1 Playback Control" on the SET UP menu to "OFF". Refer to page 52 for details. Video CDs can be played back in normal playback mode. • When playback is stopped in the Playback Control mode, making a track search operation cancels the Playback Control mode. 25

Operations unique for a Video CD
in the Playback Control mode

If “PBC” is illuminated on the front panel display when a Video
CD is played back, this unit is in the Playback Control mode. In
this mode, a screen menu appears on the monitor screen after
the playback begins.
To select the preferred item on a screen menu
Press the corresponding numeric button(s). The
Playback of the item begins.

If the disc has two or more menus;
Press
to go on to the next menu.

To enjoy Video CDs with the Playback Control
turned off
Change the setting of “1 Playback Control” on the SET UP
menu to “OFF”. Refer to page 52 for details.
Video CDs can be played back in normal playback mode.
