■ Playing in Dual Mode Basic Operation In Dual mode, you can play two voices in unison. In this way, you can simulate a melody duet or combine two similar voices to create a thicker sound. Press the [PERFORMANCE] button to turn off the button indicator. 2 Enter Dual mode. Press the two desired VOICE/PERFORMANCE buttons simultaneously. Main part Layer part TIP If you want to select Dual mode for the left-hand area when the entire keyboard is divided into left and right areas (page 36), hold down the [SPLIT] button and simultaneously press two VOICE/PERFORMANCE buttons. 3 Select a voice. Use the A [-]/[+] buttons and B [-(NO)]/[+(YES)] buttons to select a voice. The voice with the lower voice group number (see page 90) is referred to as Main part. The other voice is referred to as Layer part. TIP You can also use the VARIATION [†]/[π] buttons to select voice 1. TIP Details on selecting XG voices are provided on page 34. 4 Exit Dual mode. Press any VOICE/PERFORMANCE button. Dual mode using voices in the same voice group 1 Exit Performance mode. Press the [PERFORMANCE] button to turn off the button indicator. 2 Select a voice group. Press the VOICE/PERFORMANCE button. 3 Select a voice. Use the A [-]/[+] buttons to select a voice. 4 Select another voice. Use the B [-]/[+] buttons to select another voice in the same voice group. To select the same voice, press the B [-(NO)] or [+(YES)] button once. To select a different voice within the same voice group, press the B [-(NO)] or [+(YES)] button repeatedly. TIP If you want to select Dual mode for the left-hand area when the entire keyboard is divided into left and right areas (page 36), press the D [-] or [+] button. 5 Exit Dual mode. Press any VOICE/PERFORMANCE button. TIP If you connect the P-250 to an external tone generator via MIDI (page 18), you can layer the sounds of the P-250 and the tone generator and play them simultaneously (Layer mode) using the "MidiOutChannel" (page 74) and "InternalTG" (page 70) settings.
