Checking Things Under the Hood Hood Release To open the hood, first pull the handle inside the vehicle. A CAUTION: An electric fan under the hood can startup and injure you even when the engineis not running. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan. I A C IUTION: that rn can get on hot t j n e parts and start a fire. These include liquids like gasoline, oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshieldwasher and other fluids, and plastic or rubber. You or others could be burned. Be careful not to drop spill or things thatwill burn onto a hot engine. The following sections tell you how to checkfluids, lubricants and important parts underhood.
