A CAUTION: Air bags inflate with great force, faster than the blink of an eye. If you're tooclose to an inflating air bag, it could seriouslyinjure you. Safety belts help keep you in position beforeand duringa crash. Always wear your safety belt, even with air far bags. The driver should sit as back as possible while still maintaining controlof the vehicle. AIR BAG There is an air bagreadiness light on the instrument panel, which shows AIR BAG. A CAUTION: An inflating air bag canseriously injure small children. Always secure children properly your in vehicle. To read how, see the partof this manual called 'cChildren"and the caution label on the right frontpassenger's safety belt. The system checks the air bag electrical system for malfunctions. The light tells you if there is an electrical problem. See "Air Bag Readiness Light" in the Index for more information. 1-23
