3ware Escalade Storage Switch User Guide Installing the storage switch while installing SuSE Linux with YaST1 Materials required • 3ware 3DM CD-ROM, 3ware driver installation disk for SuSE Linux (1) • 3ware driver installation disk. • SuSE Linux Installation CD-ROM/DVD and boot disk Note: We have tested systems where an IDE drive connected to the motherboard interfered with using the Escalade Storage Switch as a boot device. Disconnecting the IDE drive while installing Linux will eliminate this problem. After Linux is installed, the drive can be reconnected. Create disk arrays Refer to the 3ware Hardware Installation and 3ware Disk Array Configuration Utility chapters. Boot with the SuSE CD/DVD or diskette 1 Insert SuSE Boot diskette into the floppy drive of the computer. If your BIOS supports it you may boot directly from the SuSE installation CD-ROM/DVD disk instead. 2 Select the manual or YaST1 installation method. YaST2 is not supported. If the system boots in YaST2 mode, select Abort and continue the install from the main installation menu. 108 www.3ware.com
