With the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, slowly retract the slide and visually confirm that the Disassembly Pin has returned to the "LOCKED" position. NOTICE: If the slide is released when under spring pressure and the Disassembly Pin is not in the "Locked" position, the slide can be propelled off the grip housing. BARREL OBSTRUCTION CHECK WARNING: Catastrophic failure can result if a cartridge is fired into an obstructed barrel. If you believe the barrel might be obstructed follow the "FIELD STRIPPING" operations and disassemble the pistol (pages 26-28). 30
