Chapter 34 Configuring MPLS, MPLS VPN, MPLS OAM, and EoMPLS Configuring MPLS VPNs Defining VPNs Note Before defining VPNs, enable MPLS on the switch (see Enabling MPLS, page 34-8). Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to define VPN routing instances on the PE router: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Command configure terminal ip routing ip vrf vrf-name Step 4 rd route-distinguisher Step 5 route-target {export | import | both} route-target-ext-community Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 import map route-map export map route-map exit interface interface-id Step 10 ip vrf forwarding vrf-name Step 11 ip address ip address Step 12 end Step 13 show ip vrf Step 14 show ip route vrf show ip cef vrf vrf-name Step 15 copy running-config startup-config Purpose Enter global configuration mode. Enable IP routing (required only if routing is disabled). Enter VRF configuration mode, and define the VPN routing instance by assigning a VRF name. Create a VRF table by specifying a route distinguisher. Enter either an AS number and an arbitrary number (xxx:y) or an IP address and arbitrary number (A.B.C.D:y). Create a list of import, export, or import and export route target communities for the specified VRF. Enter either an AS system number and an arbitrary number (xxx:y) or an IP address and an arbitrary number (A.B.C.D:y). The route-target-ext-community should be the same as the route-distinguisher entered in Step 4. (Optional) Repeat Steps 3 to 5 to create additional VPN routing instances. (Optional) Associate the specified import route map with the VRF. (Optional) Associate the specified export route map with the VRF. Return to global configuration mode. Enter interface configuration mode, and specify the Layer 3 ES or VLAN interface to be associated with the VRF. Associate the Layer 3 interface with the VRF. Add the VRF route to the VRF routing table. Return to privileged EXEC mode. Display the defined VRFs and interfaces. Display the IP routing table for a VRF. Display the CEF forwarding table associated with a VRF. (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file. Use the no ip vrf vrf-name global configuration command to delete a VRF and remove interfaces from it. Use the no ip vrf forwarding interface configuration command to remove an interface from a VRF. Defining VPNs

Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to define VPN routing instances on the PE

router:

Use the

no ip vrf

vrf-name

global configuration command to delete a VRF and remove interfaces from

it. Use the

no ip vrf forwarding

interface configuration command to remove an interface from a VRF.
