Removal and replacement procedures Processor ✎ The processor spare part kit includes replacement thermal material. Description M600 2.4-GHz processor (2-MB L2 cache, 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport speed) M520 2.3-Ghz processor (1-MB L2 cache, 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport speed) M500 2.2-GHz processor (1-MB L2 cache, 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport speed) M320 2.1-GHz processor (1-MB L2 cache, 3.2 GT/s HyperTransport speed) M300 2.0-GHz processor (1-MB L2 cache, 3.2 GT/s HyperTransport speed) M100 2.0-GHz processor (512-KB L2 cache, 3.2 GT/s HyperTransport speed) Spare part number 576254-001 583055-001 576253-001 576252-001 578024-001 576251-001 Before removing the processor, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7). 5. Remove the following components: a. Wireless module compartment cover (see "WLAN module" on page 4-8). b. Hard drive (see "Hard drive" on page 4-10). c. Optical drive (see "Optical drive" on page 4-15). d. Keyboard (see "Keyboard" on page 4-16). e. Keyboard cover (see "Keyboard cover" on page 4-18). f. Display assembly (see "Display assembly" on page 4-21). g. Top cover (see "Top cover" on page 4-29). h. System board (see "System board" on page 4-36). i.
