NOTE:Usecautionwhenremovingthebladeto avoid contactintgheweldboltsonthe housing. • Whensharpeningthe blade,follow the original angleof grindas a guide.It is extremelyimportant thateachcuttingedgereceivesanequalamountof grindingto prevenat n unbalancebdlade.An unbalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibrationwhen rotatingat highspeedsandmaycausedamageto theunit. • Thebladecanbetestedfor balanceby balancingit ona roundshaftscrewdriveorr nail.Removemetal fromthe heavysideuntilit is balancedevenly.See figure21. CARBURETORADJUSTMENT WARNING: IF ANY ADJUSTMENTS ARE ,_ MENAGDIENE TOIS TRHUENNIENNGGIN(EE.G.WCHAILREBURTHE-E TOR), KEEP CLEAR OF ALL MOVING PARTS. BE CAREFUL OF HEATED SUR- FACES AND MUFFLER. The carburetor has been pre-set at the factory and should not require adjustment. However, if your engine does not operate properly due to suspected carburetor problems, take your chipper-shredder to your nearest SEARS Service Center. FLAILS The flails, located inside the housing, may be reversed when they become dull. It is suggested that this procedure be performed by your nearest Sears Service Department. ENGINE SPEED Your engine speed has been factory set. Do not attempt to increase engine speed or it may result in personal injury. If you believe the engine is running too fast or too slow, take your chipper-shredder to the nearest SEARS Service Center for repair and adjustment. 16
