17 Removing the solid-state drive/Intel Optane You need to disable the Intel Optane before removing it from your computer. Procedure 1 Loosen the captive screw that secures the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield and solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. NOTE: Solid-state drive shield is available only on computers shipped with NVMe solid-state drive. 2 In computers shipped with mSATA solid-state drive/Intel Optane, remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. 3 Slide the solid-stare drive shield/Intel Optane shield and lift the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield off the palm rest and keyboard assembly. 4 Slide and remove the solid-state drive/Intel Optane from the slot. 34 Removing the solid-state drive/Intel Optane

Prerequisites
Remove the
base cover

Procedure

Loosen the captive screw that secures the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield and solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm
rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE:
Solid-state drive shield is available only on computers shipped with NVMe solid-state drive.

In computers shipped with mSATA solid-state drive/Intel Optane, remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the solid-state drive/Intel
Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.

Slide the solid-stare drive shield/Intel Optane shield and lift the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield
off
the palm rest and
keyboard assembly.

Slide and remove the solid-state drive/Intel Optane from the slot.
