The further the Quieting Meter deflects to the left, the higher the signal will be in relation to background noise. The best reception as indicated by the Quieting Meter usually coincides with the center of a broadcast channel. When you are tuned to the center of a channel, the IN TUNE beacon will illuminate. Should the best reading of the Quieting Meter not coincide with the illumination of the IN TUNEbeacon, tune according to the Meter A second, unmarkedIN TUNE light appears on the top of the Receiver to the left of the dial scale. If the station is broadcasting in stereo, a STEREO beacon will illuminate. To decrease the loudness, turn the VOLUME control counterclockwise. The BALANCE control shifts the loudness to one speaker or the other. Turning the control counterclockwise from its neutral(12 o'clock) position willshift the sound to the left speaker by reducing the loudness of the right. Turning the control clockwise from neutral will have the opposite effect. 10
