Connections

Page 4 highlights

Connections On the rear panel of the Citation Receiver you will find numerous receptacles, all clearly labeled Each of these will be dealt with in turn. For the moment, leave the power cord of the Citation Receiver unconnected. Put the Receiver on the shelf or table. or near where it will finally be placed. Leave enough working space around the Receiver so you can make connections easily and comfortably The Citation Receiver requires adequate ventilation. It should not be installed on a cushion or rug that would prevent air from entering at the bottom of the unit, and at least three inches of clearance must be provided at the top. In addition. a minimum of two inches clearance should be provided at the back of the unit. Speaker Compatibility Your Citation Receiver has been designed to drive up to two pairs of 8- or 16-ohm speakers simultaneously. The Receiver can also accommodate one pair of 4-ohm speakers at a time. Preparing Speaker Wire Use two-conductor stranded wire to connect your speakers to the Citation Receiver. Eighteen gauge lamp cord (zip oorcID is satisfactory. but a heavier gauge (with a lower number) is preferable, especially for distances over 25 feet. It is possible to use up to 50 feet of wire for each speaker without significant loss of volume. Do not drive staples or tacks through the center of the wire, for this may short out the two conductors and consequently decrease volume or eliminate sound entirely. Cut two segments of wire approximately equal in length. Both should be long enough to reach the farther speaker comfortably. Separate the conductors ateach end of the wire segments for a distance of two or three inches. Then carefully remove about one-quarter inch of insulation from each free end. Twist the strands of each conductor so they are smooth and tight, without any loose strands. 1/4 T 2
