Memory module NOTE: The memory module spare part kit does not include the memory cover. The memory cover is available using spare part number L17264-001. NOTE: Primary and expansion memory is installed in a stacked configuration. If only one memory module is installed, it must be installed in the bottom socket. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 17). 5. Remove the rear I/O bracket (see Rear I/O bracket on page 20). 6. Remove the bottom shield (see Bottom shield on page 21). Remove the memory module cover and memory modules: 1. Squeeze the sides of the memory cover (1), and then lift the cover off the system board (2). Component replacement procedures 27

Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:
1.
Turn
off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off

then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

6.
Remove the bottom shield (see

).
Remove the memory module cover and memory modules:
