Hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive bracket or hard drive connector cable. The hard drive bracket and screws are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 812686-001. The hard drive cable is available using spare part number 812697-001. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 28). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 44). Remove the hard drive: 1. Disconnect the hard drive cable from the system board (1). 2. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.

off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see

).
5.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
44
).
Remove the hard drive:
1.
Disconnect the hard drive cable from the system board

2.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screws

that secure the hard drive assembly to the computer.
