Disconnect the hard drive cable adapter, If it is necessary to disassemble the hard drive

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the keyboard/top cover (see Keyboard/top cover on page 24). Remove the hard drive: 1. Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the hard drive connector cable is attached, and then disconnect the hard drive connector cable from the system board. 2. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (2) that secure the hard drive to the bottom cover. 3. Remove the hard drive (3). 4. If it is necessary to disassemble the hard drive: a. Disconnect the hard drive cable adapter (1) from the hard drive. b. Spread the left and right sides of the hard drive bracket (2) to release the bracket from the hard drive. Remove the hard drive:
1.
Release the ZIF connector

to which the hard drive connector cable is attached, and then disconnect
the hard drive connector cable from the system board.
2.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws

that secure the hard drive to the bottom cover.
3.
Remove the hard drive

4.
If it is necessary to disassemble the hard drive:
a.
Disconnect the hard drive cable adapter

b.

to release the bracket from
the hard drive.
