Memory module Removal and replacement procedures Description Spare part number 4096-MB memory module (1333-MHz, DDR3, PC3-10600 Shared) 599092-001 2048-MB memory module (1333-MHz, DDR3, PC3-10600) 581096-001 1024-MB memory module (1333-MHz, DDR3, PC3-10600 Shared) (not available on Microsoft 64-bit 598859-001 operating systems) Before removing the memory module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7). 5. Remove the accessory cover (see "Mass storage device" on page 4-9). Remove the memory module: 1. Pull away the retention clips on each side of the memory module to release the memory module. (The memory module tilts up.) Maintenance and Service Guide 4-21
