Removal and replacement procedures Mass storage device ✎ The mass storage device spare part kit includes a bracket. Description Hard drive: ■ 500-GB, 7200-rpm ■ 320-GB, 7200-rpm ■ 250-GB, 7200-rpm ■ 160-GB, 7200-rpm Solid-state drive (includes bracket): ■ 160-GB, 2.5-in solid-state drive-for use only with HP Compaq 6540b and 6440b computer models ■ 128-GB, 2.5-in solid-state drive-for use with all computer models Spare part number 583246-001 583245-001 583244-001 583243-001 598089-001 583247-001 Before removing the mass storage device, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7).
