24 Chapter 3 Table 3-3 Discover Terminals Dialog Box, Continued Selection Description Enter full pathname of list file text box Enter a unique path and name identifying the file to which discovery information is to be saved. The file will be created if it does not already exist. Edit hosts file command button Opens the server Hosts file (Figure 3-7) in Notepad. This editable file contains mappings of IP addresses to host names. The hosts file is referred-to first, before DNS is consulted to locate hosts. Run it now and Schedule it radio buttons If you select Run it now, the discovery action will occur immediately upon pressing the Ok button. If you select Schedule it, the discovery commands will be saved in a batch file for later use by the scheduler (see Chapter 5). Enter batch file name text box Active when Schedule it is selected. The discover commands are written to a batch file (.bat for Windows, .sh for non-Windows) created in the admin.tcl/admin_data/bat directory. This file name and location must be made known to the scheduler (see Chapter 5). Ok and Cancel buttons Ok saves the current information and, if Run it now is selected, initiates the discovery action. Cancel closes the dialog box without performing an action (although changes to the Hosts file saved in Notepad are retained).
