6 Connecting to a blade workstation This chapter describes how to configure RGS to establish a connection between the client computer and a blade workstation. Blade connection settings for Embedded OS versions 9.40 and 9.45 are described first, followed by the blade connection settings for Embedded OS 9.61. Figure 6-1 shows the upper portion of the Blade Connection Settings screen (the lower portion of the screen is described in Section 6-4). Figure 6-1 Upper portion of the Blade Connection Settings screen for Embedded OS 9.40 and 9.45 IMPORTANT: RGS provides interoperability between versions of RGS Senders and Receivers that have the same major version number. For example, Sender version 5.0 and Receiver version 5.1.2 will interoperate together. However, Sender version 4.2 is not guaranteed to interoperate with Receiver version 5.1.2. Connection between a Receiver and a Sender should only be attempted when their major version numbers are the same. 29

This chapter describes how to configure RGS to establish a connection between the client computer and a blade

workstation. Blade connection settings for Embedded OS versions 9.40 and 9.45 are described first, followed by

the blade connection settings for Embedded OS 9.61. Remotely controlling blade power is also described in this

chapter.

IMPORTANT:

RGS provides interoperability between versions of RGS Senders and Receivers that have the

same major version number. For example, Sender version 5.0 and Receiver version 5.1.2 will interoperate

together. However, Sender version 4.2 is not guaranteed to interoperate with Receiver version 5.1.2.

Connection between a Receiver and a Sender should only be attempted when their major version numbers are

the same.
