The surface unit controls improperly set. The drip pans are not set securely in the cooktop. Large pans hold heat close to the cooktop. The oven vent is blocked. What To Do • With the controls off, check to make sure the surface unit is plugged completely into the receptacle. • Check to see the correct control is set for the surface unit you are using. • With the controls off, check to make sure the drip pan is in the recess in the cooktop and that the opening in the pan lines up with the receptacle. • Choose a pan that matches the size of the surface unit you are using. • Pans on the right rear surface unit block air flow from the oven vent and cause the cooktop to get hot. Light bulb is loose or defective. On some models, the switch operating light is broken. • Tighten or replace the bulb. • Call for service. Plug on range is not completely inserted in the electrical outlet. A fuse in your home may be blown or the circuit breaker tripped. Oven controls improperly set. • Make sure electrical plug is plugged into a live, properly grounded outlet. • Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. • See the Using the oven section.
