Removing the Constant Force Spring, Firmly gripping the spring and drum

CAUTION: The constant force spring is a high tension spring. To avoid pinching your fingers, coil the spring slowly and carefully. Do not let the spring twist or crimp. 3. Remove the shoulder screw, washers, and spacer from the constant force spring and drum. Let the spring coil itself up until it reaches the screw that secures it to the vertical rail. (See Figure 75.) 4. Firmly gripping the spring and drum, remove the screw securing the spring to the vertical rail. (See Figure 75.)
