7 OTHER FUNCTIONS ■ Intercom operation (Continued) t After releasing [PTT] you can hear the response through the speaker. y To return to normal operation, push [CLR] or repeat step q. • While in the intercom mode, the transceiver functions (transmit and receive) are interrupted. If the transceiver is in transmit mode, the intercom function is disabled. • When a DSC Call is received, the intercom function is interrupted with an automatic return to the transceiver mode. The Function screen displays 'Receiving DSC Calls.' (p. 32) • When a WX alert is received, "9: #.'46" blinks and a beep sounds. The WX alert sounds after the Intercom use is finished. 44 ■ Hailer operation The IC-M604A has a 2-way hailer function for voice amplification and reception over a loudspeaker, making it unnecessary to leave the bridge to hear a hailing party. Connect an external hailer speaker as described on page 50. q Push [O], then push [7• HAIL ] to activate the hailer. Push , then push *#+.'4 .+56'0 w Hold down [PTT] and speak into the microphone at a normal voice level . • "6#.-" or ".+56'0" respectively appears on the caller or listener function display. • To adjust the hailer level, rotate [SELECTOR]. e After releasing [PTT] you can hear the response through the speaker. r To turn OFF the hailer, push [CLR] or repeat step q. • While in the hailer mode, the transceiver functions (trans- mit and receive) are interrupted. If the transceiver is transmitting, the hailer function is disabled. • When a DSC Call is received, the hailer function is interrupted with an automatic return to the transceiver mode.
