CHARACTER ENTRY While in the character entry screen, you can use the following two methods to enter the characters: o Pressing the [J]/[K] buttons Press [J]/[K] to cycle the characters from A ~ Z, a ~ z, 0 ~ 9, and a space (default settings). You can also assign a character to an optional button and later press that button to recall the assigned character: A ~ Z, a ~ z, 0 ~ 9, or a space and characters. ● You can enter characters using the [J]/[K] buttons when the buttons function as character input buttons. When the buttons function as line up/ down buttons, it is not possible to enter a character. o Using the keypad (Full button model Portable transceivers and Mobile transceivers with microphone with keypad only) Press the keypad buttons to enter characters as shown in the table below. You can press the [ ] button repeatedly to switch the input mode (upper case B lower case B numbers B back to beginning).
