Photo Eyes IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SAFETY DEVICES PHOTO EYES When properly connected and aligned, the photo eye will detect an obstruction in the path of its invisible light beam. If an obstruction breaks the light beam while the door is closing, the door will stop and typically reverse to the full open position. The photo eyes must be installed facing each other across the door, no more than 6" (15 cm) above the floor. SENSING EDGES When properly connected, the sensing edge will make contact with an obstruction while the door is closing, the door will stop and typically reverse to the full open position. The sensing edge must be installed on the bottom of the door. See Optional Safety Device Configurations for wiring information. Safety Edge Photo Eye Sensing Edge 14
