Accessing Text Messages ᮣ When you receive a text message, an alert is displayed on your phone's screen. Press Read (left softkey) to display the message. Use your navigation key to scroll down and view the entire message. Caller ID Blocking Caller ID allows people to identify a caller before answering the phone by displaying the number of the incoming call. If you do not want your number displayed when you make a call, follow these steps. Per-Call Blocking To block delivery of your phone number to other Caller ID units for a single phone call: ᮣ Press *67 before dialing the call. Your Nextel phone number cannot be blocked from calls made to 911, 800, 855, 866, 877, 888, or other toll-free phone numbers. Per-Line Blocking You can request that Nextel Customer Service permanently block delivery of your phone number on every call you make. In this case, you may need to display your number for certain calls. To show your number on a per-call basis: ᮣ Press *82 before dialing the call. Call Waiting Call Waiting lets you receive a second call while on an active call. Call Waiting is always available, unless you turn it off for a specific call. If you are on a call and receive a second call, your phone emits a tone and displays a message. To accept the second call and put the active call on hold: ᮣ Press Yes (left softkey). 174 Section 3A.
