You can ignore these settings. Make sure that WAN1 is selected from the menu and that the Enable This Interface check box is selected. These are the default settings. Note: For information about interface WAN2, see Enable the WAN2 Interface for IPTV on page 197. These settings are not disabled but do not apply to a cable or fiber connection. You can ignore these settings. Select the Use VLANID check box and enter the VLAN ID, as indicated by your ISP. A VLAN ID might be required if you subscribe to both Internet service and IPTV service. If your ISP did not provide you with a VLAN ID, leave the Use VLANID check box cleared, which is the default setting. For information about setting up VLAN tag groups, see Set Up a Bridge for a VLAN Tag Group on page 202. If your ISP provided you with a VLAN ID and a priority value, enter the priority value, which is a number from 0 to7. You can enter a priority value only in combination with a VLAN ID. If your ISP did not provide you with a priority value, leave the default setting (0). For a PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection, select PPPoE from the menu. Note: PPP over ATM (PPPoA) is not supported for a cable or fiber connection. Enter the login name that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. This login name is often an email address. Enter the password that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. Enter the service name that you use to log in to your Internet service, as indicated by your ISP. Often, a service name is not required. Select how the Internet connection functions: • Always On. Once the Internet connection is established, it remains on. This is the default setting. • Dial on Demand. When someone attempts to connect to the Internet, the Internet connection is established. When the idle time-out period expires, the Internet connection is terminated. • Manually Connect. You must connect to the Internet manually (see View, Renew, or Release a TCP/IP Internet Connection on page 235 or View, Connect, or Disconnect a PPPoE or PPPoA Internet Connection on page 237). Manage the Internet Settings Manually

Encapsulation

For a PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection, select
