2.3 Insert masking sheets When scanning a single strip or strips of different lengths, place the film at the left end of the holder and cover any open apertures with the supplied masking sheets, cutting the sheet to the appropriate length if necessary. When scanning a single strip, place the film in the bottom row and the masking sheet in the top row. Masking sheet When scanning two strips of equal length, place the film at the left end of each row. Masking sheets are not required. 2.4 Position the film Close the holder without latching it, and check that the film is correctly aligned. If necessary, insert a pen or other pointed object into the perforations and slide the film until the frames are aligned with the apertures. The perforations can be accessed through the cutouts at the left end of the holder. Cutouts Positioning Film Care should be taken to avoid damaging the perforations when positioning the film. Do not attempt to position the film while the holder is latched. Failure to observe this precaution could damage the film. 2.5 Latch the holder Press the holder closed until the latches click into place. Proceed to "Step 3-Open the Scan Window" ( 30). 27
