First Steps Date not Set If you exit without setting time and date, the ("date not set") icon will flash in the monitor when the camera is in shooting mode and all pictures will have time stamp of "0000.00.00 00:00" (still images) or "2004.01.01 00:00" (movies). The Clock Battery When the main battery is installed or the camera is powered by an EH-62A AC adapter (optional), the clock battery will charge in about ten hours. When fully charged, the clock battery can provide several days of back-up power. The Camera Clock The camera clock is less accurate than most watches or household clocks. Check the clock regularly against more accurate timepieces and reset as necessary. Time Zones The local time or daylight saving time can be set when traveling abroad. See Date ( 112) in the setup menu for details. Setting the Clock from Provided Software (Windows XP/Mac OS X Only) If the camera is connected with the USB option set to PTP ( 60) in the setup menu, provided software can be used to set the camera clock to the same time and date as the computer. See the provided software Reference Manual (on CD) for details. 16

The Clock Battery
When the main battery is installed or the camera is powered by an EH-62A AC adapter
