Using Subject Tracking Select A (auto) mode M d button M AF area mode M k button M s Subject tracking M k button M d button Use this mode to focus on a subject that is moving when taking images. When you register a subject, subject tracking begins and the focus area automatically follows the subject. 1 Register a subject. • Align the subject that you want to register with the white border in the center of the monitor and press the k button. • When the camera is unable to focus on the subject, the border will glow red. Change the composition and try registering the subject again. • When the subject is registered, a yellow border (focus area) is displayed around that subject and the camera begins tracking that subject. Start • To cancel subject registration, press the k button. • If the camera can no longer track the registered subject, the focus area will disappear and the registration will be canceled. Register the subject again. 2 Press the shutter-release button fully to take the image. • The camera focuses on the focus area when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. The focus area will glow green and focus will be locked. • If the shutter-release button is pressed halfway while the focus area is not displayed, the camera focuses on the area in the center of the frame. B Notes About Subject Tracking 1/250 F3.1 • Adjust zoom position, flash mode, exposure compensation, and menu settings prior to registering the subject. • Subject tracking may not be possible in certain shooting conditions. • Digital zoom cannot be used.
