Chapter 6 Noise Reduction This function reduces the noise that appears on images during long exposures. When shooting night scenes, shutter speeds become slower and noise tends to appear on images. When noise reduction is set to ON, the camera automatically reduces noise to produce clearer images. However, shooting time is approximately twice as long as usual. Noise reduction can only be used when the shutter speed is set slower than 1/2 sec. In the top menu, select MODE MENU T CAMERA T NOISE REDUCTION T ON. ● When you set noise reduction to ON, shooting time is approximately twice as long as usual, because the camera needs extra time to finish the noise- reduction process. During this time, shooting the next picture is not possible. ● When you set noise reduction to ON, sequential shooting ( , , BKT) is not possible. ● This function may not work well with some shooting conditions or subjects. ● When you set noise reduction to ON, we recommend use of a tripod so that you can select a slower shutter speed. 128
