CHAPTER 7 Setting Preferences for Your Handheld The Preferences screens enable you to customize the configuration options on your handheld, including the following: General Date and Time Formats Connection Network Owner Buttons ShortCuts Digitizer Set the auto shut-off interval, the system, alarm, and game sounds, and the Beam Receive feature. Set the date, time, time zone, and Daylight Saving switch. Set the country default and the formats for dates, times, calendar, and numbers. Configure cradle/cable, modem, and infrared communication settings. Configure the network settings to communicate with your ISP. Assign your name, phone number, and other owner information to your handheld. Assign different applications to the buttons on the front panel of your handheld and the HotSync® button on the cradle/cable, and reassign the full-screen pen stroke command. Define a list of Graffiti® abbreviations. Calibrate the screen on your handheld. Viewing preferences To open the Preferences screens: 1. Tap the Applications icon . 2. Tap the Preferences icon . 3. The Preferences screens enable you to customize the configuration options on your
handheld, including the following:
Viewing preferences
To open the Preferences screens:
1.
Tap the Applications icon

Tap the Preferences icon

3.
Tap the pick list in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Select the Preferences screen you want to view.
General
Set the auto shut-off interval, the system, alarm, and game
sounds, and the Beam Receive feature.
Date and Time
Set the date, time, time zone, and Daylight Saving switch.
Formats
Set the country default and the formats for dates, times, calendar,
and numbers.
Connection
Configure cradle/cable, modem, and infrared communication
settings.
Network
