Basic - Recording conditions Dusk/Sunrise glow/Low-light intensity/Jitter (example) The camera cannot detect the face since the face occupied in the screen is too big. • In any case, the camera makes the best setting. To take pictures in some specific scene, using the recording mode matching your purpose is recommended. (example) • When [ ] (i PORTRAIT) changes to [ ] [PORTRAIT] mode (P52) • When [ ] (i SCENERY) changes to [ ] [SCENERY] mode (P53) • When [ ] (i MACRO) changes to [ ] Macro shooting (P46) • When the flash is set to AUTO [ ], [i NIGHT SCENERY] cannot be used. When the flash is set to Forced FLASH OFF [ ], [i NIGHT PORTRAIT] cannot be used. Intelligent ISO The camera automatically sets the adequate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed according to the action and brightness of the subject. Face detection The camera automatically detects the person's face. The focus and exposure can then be adjusted to fit that face. (maximum: 15) • You can automatically display pictures vertically if they were recorded holding the camera vertically (P32, 94). • When you press the shutter button, the screen may become bright or dark for a moment. This function allows easy adjustment of focus and the recorded picture will not be affected. • Be careful not to move the camera when you press the shutter button. • Do not cover the photo flash or the AF assist lamp with your finger or other objects. • Do not touch the lens. • In [i NIGHT SCENERY] the shutter speed becomes 8 seconds only when the camera has determined that there is little jitter such as when using a tripod. Do not move the camera while taking pictures. • You cannot use the following functions. - Exposure compensation - Auto bracket - White balance fine adjustment - Digital zoom ■ Flash (P43) You can select the setting of flash AUTO [ ] or Forced OFF [ ]. When AUTO is selected, depending on the type of subject or brightness, flash is set to i AUTO [ ], i AUTO/Red-eye reduction [ ], or i Slow sync./Red-eye reduction [ ]. • In [ ] or [ ] flash mode, flash emitted twice. Quick AF Focusing will be faster when the shutter button is pressed as the camera automatically adjusts the focus when there is not much jittering.
