Recording pictures (basic) ∫ The Backlight Compensation Backlight is a situation where light comes from the back of subjects. The subjects such as people become dark when pictures are recorded in backlight. If you press 3, [ ] (compensating backlight ON indication) appears and the backlight compensation function is activated. This function compensates the backlight by brightening the whole of the picture. • The settings on [BATTERY TYPE], [BEEP] and [CLOCK SET] in the simple mode are also applied to other recording modes. • You cannot set the following items in the simple mode. - [NO.RESET] - [RESET] - [USB MODE] - [VIDEO OUT] - [LANGUAGE] 5 However, the setting on [NO.RESET] and [LANGUAGE] in the [SETUP] menu also affects the simple mode. BACKLIGHT • You cannot use the following functions in the simple mode. - White balance fine adjustment - Exposure compensation - Auto bracket - [PICT.SIZE] 5 - [QUALITY] - [AUDIO REC.] (DMC-LZ2 only) - [D.ZOOM] - [COL.EFFECT] BACKLIGHT - [PICT.ADJ.] • If you press 3 while [ ] is displayed, [ ] disappears and the backlight compensation function is canceled. However, the setting on [PICT.SIZE] and [QUALITY] corresponds to the setting on [PICT.MODE]. • When you use the backlight compensation function, we recommend using the flash. 37 VQT0P65
