Taking Pictures • Face Detection AF and AE may not work if the subject is wearing sunglasses, has part of their face covered or is not looking toward the camera. • If the camera cannot detect the subject's face, the camera focuses using the setting currently selected in [Focusing Area]. • When the Smile Capture function is set, the shutter may not be released automatically because the Smile Capture function may not work in some situations, such as when the detected face is too small. If this happens, press the shutter release button to release the shutter. To Switch the Face Detection Function 3 By default, the Face Detection function is set to Face Detection On. You can switch to the Smile Capture function, which automatically releases the shutter when your subject smiles. The Face Detection function is switched as follows each time the I button is pressed: Smile Capture → Face Detection Off → Face Detection On I button An icon indicating either Face Detection On or Smile Capture appears on the display.
