Troubleshooting If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the system, use this troubleshooting guide to help remedy the problem before requesting repairs. Should any problem persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer. In the event of a problem with the wireless sound function, have a Sony dealer check the entire system (main unit and surround amplifier). General The power does not turn on. t Check that the AC power cord (mains lead) is connected securely. The remote control does not function. t The distance between the remote control and the main unit is too far. t The batteries in the remote control are weak. The disc lid does not open and you cannot remove the disc even after you press Z. t Try the following: 1 Touch and hold N and Z on the main unit for more than 5 seconds to open the disc lid. 2 Remove the disc. 3 Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), then reconnect after several minutes. The system does not work normally. t Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), then reconnect after several minutes. Messages [A new software version is available. Please go to the "Setup" section of the menu and select "Network Update" to perform the update.] appears on the TV screen. t See [Network Update] (page 59) to update the system to a latest software version. "PRTECT", "PUSH" and "POWER" appear alternately in the top panel display. t Press "/1 to turn off the system, and check the following items after "STBY" disappears. • Are the + and - speaker cords shortcircuited? • Are you using only the supplied speakers? • Is anything blocking the ventilation holes of the system? • After checking the above items and fixing any problems, turn on the system. If the cause of the problem cannot be found even after checking all the above items, consult your nearest Sony dealer. "LOCKED" appears in the top panel display. t Set the child lock function to off (page 53). "D. LOCK" appears in the top panel display. t Contact your nearest Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. "Exxxx" (x is a number) appears in the top panel display. t Contact your nearest Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility and give the error code. 70US

Troubleshooting
If you experience any of the following
difficulties while using the system, use this
troubleshooting guide to help remedy the
problem before requesting repairs. Should
any problem persist, consult your nearest
Sony dealer.
In the event of a problem with the wireless
sound function, have a Sony dealer check
the entire system (main unit and surround
amplifier).
The power does not turn on.
