Help Guide Digital Music Player NW-A55/A55HN/A55L/A56/A56HN/A57 Connecting the player to an unpaired smartphone for the first time You can use the player to listen to music from a smartphone through a Bluetooth connection (Bluetooth Receiver function). Connect headphones to the player to listen to the music. You can also use the Noise Canceling function or Ambient Sound Mode with compatible headphones. When you connect a smartphone for the first time, you must register the player and the smartphone to each other. This registration is called "pairing". Once you have paired the player and the smartphone, you can easily connect the devices in the future. The following instructions are a basic step-by-step procedure for connecting the player and a smartphone. Before you start, terminate the Bluetooth connection on the smartphone if the player is already connected to another smartphone. 1 Set the smartphone to the pairing mode. 2 On the library screen of the player, tap . 3 Confirm the message and tap [OK]. The player will switch to the Bluetooth Receiver function. 4 Tap [Add Device (Pairing)]. The player is ready for pairing. 5 Select the name of the player on the smartphone screen. Once the player has connected to the smartphone, the codec ( ) and the name of the smartphone ( ) will appear. 6 Play a track on the smartphone. To turn off the Bluetooth Receiver function Tap in the top left of the Bluetooth Receiver screen. Then, tap [OK] when a message appears. The player will return to the music playback function. 102
