4 - CD playback Playback area With data CDs, you can set the area to be used for playback (PLAY AREA setting). Follow the procedures below to set the playback area. Setting the playback area Press and hold the PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL] button on the main unit or press the remote control PLAY AREA button to set the playback area. The selected playback area is shown as follows in the main display area for about two seconds and then disappears. Depending on the selected playback area, the FOLDER indicator might also appear on the display. Main FOLDER display area indicator Meaning ALL PLAY Not shown All files on the data CD will be played back. FOLDER Shown All files in the selected folder on the data CD will be played back. Playback modes This unit can play back tracks using the following four playback modes. Continuous playback mode (default setting) Tracks on the CD are played back in numerical order. NOTE When FOLDER is the playback area for a data CD, the tracks in the current folder will be played back in numerical order. Single playback mode The selected track on the CD is played back once and then playback stops. Random playback mode The tracks on the CD are played back in random order regardless of their track numbers. Playback stops after all tracks have been played. NOTE When FOLDER is the playback area for a data CD, the tracks in the current folder will be played back in random order. (See "Folder playback (data CDs)" on page 20.) Program playback mode The programmed tracks are played back in program order. See "Programmed playback" on page 20 for details. Selecting the playback mode Press the main unit PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL] button or the remote PLAY MODE button to cycle through the playback modes. During playback, however, you can only switch among continuous, single and random playback modes. To select programmed playback, press the main unit PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL] button or the remote PLAY MODE button when playback is stopped. The currently selected playback mode is shown on the display as follows. NOTE Immediately after pressing the PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL] button on the main unit or the PLAY MODE button on the remote control, the selected mode is shown on the main display area as follows. 4 – CD playback
Playback area
With data CDs, you can set the area to be used for playback (PLAY
AREA setting). Follow the procedures below to set the playback
area.
Setting the playback area
Press and hold the
PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL]
button on the main unit or press the remote control
PLAY AREA
button to set the playback area.
The selected playback area is shown as follows in the main
display area for about two seconds and then disappears.
Depending on the selected playback area, the
FOLDER
indicator might also appear on the display.

Playback modes
This unit can play back tracks using the following four playback
modes.
Continuous playback mode (default setting)
Tracks on the CD are played back in numerical order.
NOTE
When
FOLDER
is the playback area for a data CD, the
tracks in the current folder will be played back in numerical
order.
Single playback mode
The selected track on the CD is played back once and then
playback stops.
Random playback mode
The tracks on the CD are played back in random order regardless
of their track numbers. Playback stops after all tracks have been
played.
NOTE
When
FOLDER
is the playback area for a data CD, the
tracks in the current folder will be played back in random
order. (See “Folder playback (data CDs)” on page 20.)
Program playback mode
The programmed tracks are played back in program order. See
“Programmed playback” on page 20 for details.
Selecting the playback mode
Press the main unit
PLAY MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL]
button or the remote
PLAY MODE
button to cycle through the
playback modes. During playback, however, you can only switch
among continuous, single and random playback modes.
To select programmed playback, press the main unit
PLAY
MODE/PLAY AREA [SOURCE SEL]
button or the remote
PLAY
MODE
button when playback is stopped.
The currently selected playback mode is shown on the display as
follows.
