When using kitchen appliances, basic safety precautions must be followed, including these in the following pages. WARNING If the information in this manual is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or death. -- DO NOT store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. -- WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS • DO NOT try to light any appliance. • DO NOT touch any electrical switch. • DO NOT use any phone in your building. • Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions. • If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department. -- Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier. WARNING Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause injury or property damage. Refer to this manual. For assistance or additional information consult a qualified installer, service agency, manufacturer or the gas supplier. WARNING Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch power off at service panel and lock service panel. This will prevent power from being switched on accidentally. When the service panel cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag to the service panel. Examine the appliance after unpacking it. In the event of transport damage, do not plug it in. Gas type verification Verify the type of gas supplied to the location. Ensure that the appliance is connected to the type of gas for which it is certified. Refer to the product rating label. WARNING If a gas conversion kit is used, the kit shall be installed by qualified service personnel in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and all applicable codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. If the information in the instructions is not followed exactly, a fire, explosion or production of carbon monoxide may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. The qualified service personnel is responsible for the proper installation of the kit. The installation is not proper and complete until the operation of the converted appliance is checked as specified in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with the kit. Page. 5
