262 Hot Keys Power usage mode With a password The Fn + F1 key combination turns off the display and activates instant security. Type either a user or supervisor password and press Enter. If you set a blank screen saver, pressing the Fn + F1 key combination to activate instant security will cause the screen to go blank. Moving the pointing device or pressing a key turns the screen back on. An "Unlock Computer" window appears, prompting you for a password. After typing in the password, press Enter. NOTE To activate the password feature, you must first enable it by using Toshiba Password Utilities. Refer to "Using passwords in the Windows ® operating system" on page 207. Power usage mode Fn + This hot key displays the power usage pop-up win- dow and cycles through the battery save modes. Sample power usage modes The properties of each mode are set in the Toshiba Power Management utility. For more information see "Power Management" on page 185.
