Connecting Other External Devices Using Ultra Slim Bay modules 91 Checking total memory When you add or remove a memory module, you can check that the computer has recognized the change. To do this: 1 Click Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, and then System. 2 The General tab view automatically appears and shows total memory. If the computer does not recognize the memory configuration, turn off the computer, remove the memory slot cover, and make sure the memory module is seated properly, as described in step 13 of Adding memory (optional) starting on page 84. Using Ultra Slim Bay modules NOTE Your computer may not enter Standby or Hibernation mode while the Ultra Slim Bay drive is being used. To place the system into either Standby or Hibernation mode, save and close all files on the Ultra Slim Bay drive, and exit all applications that are accessing the Ultra Slim Bay drive. The Ultra Slim Bay gives you additional flexibility. By inserting and removing Ultra Slim Bay modules, you can configure your computer for the task at hand without having to carry unnecessary components with you when you travel. For example, any one of several modules can be used in the Ultra Slim Bay: ❖ DVD-ROM drive ❖ Multi-function drive ❖ Secondary battery ❖ Secondary hard disk drive (HDD)
